SASO Regulatory Update - December 2024
SASO has postponed the implementation of USB Type-C till 01/01/2026
Regarding the previous announcement on (14/08/2024) which included the start of implementation of the first stage will start on 01/01/2025, and in response to the challenges presented to SASO regarding implementation of the following standards (SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2023) and (SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2023), we would like to announce SASO's decision, which includes the following:
Accepting a test report according to the (SASO IEC 62368-1:2020) “Information and Communications Technology Equipment, Audio/Visual - Part 1: Safety Requirements.”
Submit a self-declaration of conformity to SASO, included in the product's technical file, committing to unify charging ports and meet performance requirements as specified in (SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2023) and (SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2023).
Providing a one year grace period for the procedures described above starting from 01/01/2025, and A review of the decision will be conducted upon expiration to provide a test report in accordance with the above two standards.
