The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced an update to the Harmonized System (HS) Codes for various products. This update was implemented on the Saber Platform starting June 1, 2025, in alignment with the latest changes from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA).

The HS Codes will be subject to technical regulations on July 4, 2025. All stakeholders are advised to review the updated codes and ensure compliance with the new standards.

This update to the HS Codes is part of SASO's continuous commitment to improving regulatory practices and facilitating trade. By refining the HS Codes, SASO aims to enhance the accuracy of product classification, reduce ambiguity, and promote smoother trade processes. This adjustment also supports better conformity assessments, ensuring that products entering the Saudi market meet defined safety and quality standards.

On 23^rd May, SASO publish list of new standards adopted for various SASO Technical Regulations and sectors. The summary as below:

Total standard adopted includes:

• Approval of 58 new Saudi standards

• Adoption of 2 international/regional standards

Key highlights by sector:

1. Chemical Sector: New testing standard for incense products introduced. SASO FDS 33746: 2025

2. Textile Sector: Approval of a dedicated standard for the traditional "Bisht" garment. SASO FDS 32183: 2025

3. Electrical Sector: Withdrawal of SASO 415 (related to water dispensers) and adoption of SASO IEC 60335-2-24, aligning with international safety requirements.

Amendment to the SASO Energy Efficiency Regulation (EER): Inclusion of updated SEER standards:

• SASO 2663:2025

• SASO 2874:2025

These will define the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for air conditioners, effective from 1 December 2026.
