The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization published new implementation dates for Restriction of Hazardous Subtances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS)

On December 16, 2021, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) announced a delay in the implementation of the Technical Regulation for Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment which was published on July 9, 2021. The original implementation date was set for January 5, 2022, but has now been delayed by 6 months and will follow a staggered implementation date by category as follows:

On November 19, 2021, SASO published a list of new, adopted, and updated standards along with their implementation date in the official gazette.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization released new Technical Regulations for Machinery Safety - Part 3: Lifting Equipment and for Glue and Adhesive Materials

On December 27, 2021, SASO released the new Technical Regulation for Machinery Safety - Part 3: Lifting Equipment and the new Technical Regulation for Glue and Adhesive Materials in the official gazette. Only the Arabic version is currently available.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for Candy Washing Machine Model #GVS 129TH2Z/1-19

On December 21, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for Candy Washing Machine Model #GVS 129TH2Z/1-19 due to non-compliance with the Saudi Standard for Energy Efficiency. Consumers are encouraged to contact the company to arrange an appointment for a technician to remove the washing machine and arrange for a full refund.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for DAIKIN (split) Air Conditioner Model #FTKF18TVMUZK

On November 9, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for DAIKIN (split) Air Conditioner Model #FTKF18TVMUZK due to non-compliance with the Saudi Standard for Energy Efficiency. Consumers are encouraged to contact the company to arrange an appointment for a technician to repair the air conditioner at no additional charge.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for Klein Tools Model #NCVT-1

On November 14, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for Klein Tools Model #NCVT-1 because the on/off button can remain depressed during the power on or power off cycle causing the tester to work incorrectly and pose a shock hazard to consumers testing electrical sources. Consumers are encouraged to contact the company to arrange an appointment for the product to be repaired at no additional charge.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for Matalan Children's Clothes

On November 23, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for Matalan children's clothes due to the possibility of the buttons detaching and causing a suffocation hazard. Consumers are instructed to stop using the product immediately and return the product for a full refund.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for Telo Games Lenovo Legion

On November 23, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for Telo Games Lenovo Legion due to defects in the fingerprint sensor which may result in the product not working in critical conditions. Consumers are instructed to contact the company for the product to be repaired at no additional charge.

On December 5, 2021, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for Washing Machine Model #AQD1170D 49X EX 60 HZ due to non-compliance with the Saudi Standard for Energy Efficiency. Consumers are encouraged to contact the company to arrange an appointment for a technician to remove the washing machine and arrange for a full refund.
