The Normative Instruction 29, dated June 8, 2011, establishes procedures aimed at modernizing the activities of storing and conserving agricultural products.

These procedures have been one of the main demands requested by sectors dealing with storage service providers .

According to this legislation, certification is mandatory for legal entities providing paid storage services for third parties, for agricultural products, their derivatives, by-products, and residues of economic value, including public stocks, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply - MAPA may expand the requirement to other storage units.

Non-certified storage units cannot be used for paid storage of agricultural products. There is no restriction for warehouses not classified as mandatory by the legislation to voluntarily join the system and the certification process.
