Case Study: Alltech Crop Science

Alltech® Crop Science in Brazil experienced a significant increase in sales demands and volumes after the Approved Input certification, fulfilling the purpose of growing sustainable solutions for modern agriculture.

Formerly known as Improcrop, the company is one of the oldest clients of QIMA IBD, recently completing 15 years of certification. Through high-value-added products and exclusive technologies in the Nutrition, Soil, Protection, and Performance lines, the company works to support and assist the profitability of rural producers, aiming for higher crop quality.

Founded in 1980, today Alltech® has a global team of more than 6,000 people who share a vision to sustain and nourish all living things through scientific innovation, for greater efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.

Case Study

The company faced the challenge of boosting exports and expanding available capital. To achieve this goal, it was essential to include solutions aimed at the niche of sustainable agricultural productions, promoting a proactive approach within this growing market. Faced with this situation, the company recognized the vital importance of integrating certifications into the project, thus ensuring the quality and reliability of its products.

The challenge

Alltech® Crop Science's main challenge was to improve exports, consequently increasing profits and expanding working capital. To do so, they needed to incorporate specific solutions into their portfolio, through the niche of sustainable agricultural productions, strengthening a mindset within this growing market. From this problem, the company realized the importance of incorporating certifications in the project that guaranteed product quality and reliability.

The choice for the Approved Input certification would therefore serve as a resource to achieve high performance in the most demanding markets. With the challenge of expanding vision and competence in the sector, the certificate was an opportunity to support Alltech® Crop Science's national and international business.

The process

After client recommendations and evaluations by other certifiers, Alltech® Crop Science chose QIMA IBD to promote its project development. In addition to security, credibility, and knowledge factors considered in making this decision, the certifier's accreditations also made a significant difference in this alliance. Due to these accreditations, the former Improcrop executives felt secure to initiate the suggested proposal, as they precisely met their needs.

QIMA IBD initiated the certification process, clarifying doubts for Alltech® Crop Science representatives and finalizing the contract details with the agricultural division. After audits, consequently completing the certificate documentation, demands were met with a commitment to sustainable solutions for modern agriculture.

Assessment and implementation

Audits were conducted by duly certified and experienced specialists, who carried out a thorough evaluation of the company. This included document verification, analysis of the management model adopted, and direct observation of operations. Additionally, employees were interviewed about their roles, responsibilities, daily activities, and training.

Certification offers an additional assurance of security and trust, which guarantees clients and partners that their services have been inspected throughout the entire production process.

For Alltech® Crop Science, the ease of communication with the QIMA IBD team and the certifier's accreditations - which fulfilled Alltech's ideals - were the main positive points for initiating the process, as well as the safety and responsibility in the entire certification process. Also, market recognition and strengthened credibility with clients were the most significant attributes and improvements perceived by the agricultural division.
